Predicted line-up for Liverpool vs RB Leipzig: UEFA Champions League

2 minutes, 21 seconds Read

Liverpool are ready for their UEFA Champions League clash against German club RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena and are hoping for a perfect start in Europe.

Arne Slot's side have just secured a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. With goals from club legends Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones, Liverpool passed what was probably the most difficult test in the top English league to date and secured the three points at Anfield Road.

In Liverpool's first two Champions League games, the team achieved a 3-1 victory over AC Milan at the San Siro, which was followed by a 2-0 home win against Bologna. A goal conceded by the Reds is one of the best defensive records after two games played, but it will be difficult to keep Leipzig stars Xavi Simons, Loïs Openda and Benjamin Benjamin Šeško away away from home.

With starting goalkeeper Alisson recovering from a hamstring injury, Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start in goal, while Diogo Jota is also questionable with an upper body injury.

This is how the Reds could play at Anfield in the Champions League.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher—The Ireland international retains his place in goal while Alisson remains out with a hamstring injury. Kelleher has conceded just one goal in 180 minutes in the Premier League this season.

RB: Trent Alexander Arnold– One of the most influential players in the Liverpool squad starts at right-back and tries to force his way into midfield to distribute passes wide to teammates.

CB: Ibrahima Konate—The France international has rarely made a mistake alongside van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool's defense this season.

CB: Virgil van Dijk—The 33-year-old continues to age like a fine wine with solid performances in what could be his final season at Anfield.

LB: Andy Robertson—Robertson will be key to Liverpool's success on the left by keeping Leipzig's wingers in check.

DM: Ryan Gravenberch—Slot chose his compatriots in Gravenberch and used him as a defensive midfielder in front of the defense.

DM: Alexis Mac Allister– The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder starts in the middle of the park alongside Gravenberch.

RW: Mohamed Salah– The Egyptian winger wants to extend his goal tally against a strong Leipzig defense and continue his legendary career at Liverpool.

AM: Dominik Szoboszlai—Szoboszlai is still trying to regain the form he had during his Bundesliga days when he faces his former club.

LW: Luis Diaz—Díaz started the season in strong form but has waned in recent weeks as he looks to get back on the scoresheet.

ST: Darwin Nunez– The Uruguayan leads the side as Jota is unlikely to play after suffering an upper body injury against Chelsea.
