The No. 8-ranked Kansas volleyball team didn't have its best performance in Thursday's Sunflower Showdown game against Kansas State at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.

But the Jayhawks had what they needed when it mattered most.

After losing the first and third sets of the night and falling into a 2-1 hole, KU won the fourth 25-20 and then dominated the fifth en route to a 15-10 win that gave Kansas the game – 19:25, 25 -15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10.

The win moved the Jayhawks to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in Big 12 play and was their first five-set match of the season. KU coach Ray Bechard said after the win that it was good for his team to get a taste of that sudden-death finish, as he expects to see more of it in the coming weeks.

The Jayhawks next travel to Florida on Friday, where they play a weekend game against UCF on Saturday before returning home to face Iowa State next weekend.

Here's a look back at some of Thursday's events.
