“Lucky Grandmother” wins $1,000 a week for life/$1 million lottery prize at 7-Eleven

Last week we reported that the Maryland Lottery was looking for the winner of a Cash4Life ticket purchased at an Olney 7-Eleven that would entitle the player to $1,000 a week for life or a lump sum of $1 million Dollar admitted. We now know that a grandmother from Olney claimed the prize and chose the cash option.

Per MD Lottery: A Maryland grandma is now a millionaire after winning a second-tier prize in the multi-state lottery Cash4Life Game. The Olney resident learned she had won while sitting on the couch at home checking the winning numbers on her phone. The draw took place at 9 p.m. and it showed the results at 9:15 p.m. She couldn't believe her eyes.

“I had the ticket in one hand and my phone with the numbers in the other hand. I asked, 'Am I seeing double?'” the winner recalls. The woman's Quick Pick ticket from Montgomery County had one Money ball of 1, but in the remaining numbers she saw double that, resulting in the prize of $1,000 a week for life. The lottery player said she is unsure how she will enjoy her winnings and plans to meet with a financial advisor.

Her big win was a big surprise because she is not a regular player Cash4Life Player. She also purchased her ticket at a new retail location for her, the Olney 7-Eleven. She went to the store at 18120 Georgia Avenue because she was driving on the same side of the street as the supermarket and traffic was bad that day.

The lucky lady filled one out Choose 3/4/5 Playslip at the store and saw she had $2 left to spend. She decided to play one more game and went for it Cash4Life and bought the one $2 quick pick ticket. She estimated she has only played the game two or three times in her life. “It was just luck that I played it,” she said

The 7-Eleven is also celebrating. For selling the second tier winning ticket, the store will receive a $2,500 lottery bonus. This is the 10th^Th Second place Cash4Life Prize won in Maryland since 2016, when the lottery began offering the game to players. Five Maryland players won the grand prize of $1,000 a day for life during that period.”
