CONCORD, NH – Former New Hampshire state Sen. Anthony M. “Andy” Sanborn was arrested Wednesday for allegedly lying to receive COVID relief funds, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.

Sanborn, who lives in Bedford, also owns Win Win Win, LLC and operates Concord Casino. He has been in legal trouble for more than a year since the attorney general's office first accused Sanborn of lying to get the money he used to buy luxury cars for himself and his wife.

Sanborn now faces new allegations that he received additional grants from a federal program called Main Street Relief Fund 1.0 after he allegedly misstated his company's gross receipts by $1 million on his grant application.

The program was intended to provide economic support to New Hampshire small businesses that suffered disruptions due to COVID-19.

Falsifying the casino's gross receipts allegedly allowed Sanborn and his company to receive $188,474 more than he was entitled to, according to the attorney general's office.

Sanborn was charged with theft by deception, which is a Class A felony under New Hampshire law. Class A felonies are punishable by a sentence of seven and a half to 15 years in New Hampshire State Prison and a $4,000 fine.

According to the Attorney General's Office, the charges are part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
