CMU hosts Ohio – The Morning Sun on Saturday

Homecoming weekend is here.

Central Michigan University is celebrating its 100th homecoming this weekend, and there are plenty of festivities planned throughout. On Saturday afternoon, the CMU football team hosts Ohio University in an important Mid-American Conference showdown.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Chippewa Sports Radio Network.

Both the Chippewas and Bobcats have identical records, as both are 3-2 overall and 1-0 in MAC play.

Both have also had their farewell weeks behind them.

CMU earned back-to-back comeback victories when the Chippewas defeated San Diego State 22-21 on Sept. 28 on a 46-yard field goal by Tristan Mattson in the closing seconds. Previously, on Sept. 21, the Chippewas defeated Ball State 37-34 on a 20-yard TD pass from quarterback Joe Labas to wideout Chris Parker with 16 seconds left in regulation.

This season, the Chippewas were exceptional on offense as they averaged 30 points per game and 429 yards of offense (185 rushing, 245 passing). Defensively, the Chippewas have allowed 29 points on 353 yards (156 rushing, 197 passing) per game.

Ohio defeated Akron 30-10 on September 28th. The Bobcats opened the season with a 38-22 loss at Syracuse before defeating South Alabama 27-20 and Morgan State 21-6. They also lost at Kentucky 41-10 on September 21st.

The Bobcats average 21 points per game and 369 yards of offense (192 rushing, 177 passing) per game. They also allow 23 points and 340 yards per game (101 rushing, 240 passing).

CMU leads the all-time series 27-6-2.

CMU will also honor the 1974 national soccer team at Saturday's game.
