The Yankees extended their season with a 3-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 of the ALDS on Thursday – but things got a little tricky on the way to victory.

At the end of a 3-3-6 double play in the bottom of the sixth inning, Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe appeared to inadvertently make a hard tackle on Kansas City's Maikel Garcia.

Both benches were cleared and the Kauffman Stadium crowd appeared ready for a brawl. Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who turned out to be a villain in Kansas City this week, walked to base and began charging at Garcia.

“I just felt like (Garcia) was trying to hurt Volpe because he was a sore loser,” Chisholm said after the game. “He talked a lot on Instagram and Twitter and stuff. I do the same thing, but I won't try to hurt someone if they win a game. I didn't like that, so I told him, 'We're not doing that.'”

Chisholm was referring to earlier this week after the Game 2 loss, when Garcia responded to a Jomboy video that showed Carlos Rodón after a promising first inning in which he shut out the team, including Garcia. '

“Don’t celebrate too soon,” Garcia wrote along with the skull emoji. He later added: “We fear no one.”

Chisholm was met with boos while attacking Kansas City this series after he made enemies by saying the Royals “got lucky” in their Game 2 win.

The Yankees held on to their 3-1 win and will host the winner of tomorrow's Tigers-Guardians Game 5 in the opening game of the ALCS.
