The news of the renewal was announced by Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer, at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles.

Erin Foster, who created the series, remains on board as executive producer. In addition to Konner and Kaplan, Steven Levitan and Oly Obst also executive produce the series, with Bell serving as an executive producer in addition to his starring role. Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton also executive produce, with Nora Silver of Jenni Konner Productions joining as executive producer for Season 2. 20th Television produces in association with Steven Levitan Productions.

“Creating 'Nobody Wants' will always be a career highlight for me,” said Erin Foster. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives have made this the show it is today and seeing the audience reaction to this series now that it is out in the world has been more than anything I could have imagined “I'm so happy to be able to continue this story alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of since Girls…Justice because healthy relationships are the most romantic!”

The series stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola and Shiloh Berman. The official series description states:

“An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the road to recovery walk into a party. As they walk out together, unlikely couple Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody) realize there is something between them. But perhaps also between them, with their different views on life, all the modern obstacles to love and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families – including her sister Morgan (Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Simons).”

“It's a dream to work on 'Nobody Wants This,'” Konner said. “Erin is the rare creator with a crystal-clear voice and a truly collaborative spirit. I'm a real fan of Erin's show and I also feel so lucky to be in the room with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls again.”

“Nobody Wants This” has been at the top of the Netflix Top 10 English-language TV charts since its release. It opened at number two in its first few days of release, garnering 10.3 million views. Netflix defines a view as the total number of hours watched divided by the total running time. With 15.9 million views, the show rose to number one in its first full week of release, knocking Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story from the top spot.

“I'm incredibly excited to be a part of the second season of 'Nobody Wants This,' created by the hilarious Erin Foster,” said Kaplan. “It’s such a unique and beautiful show and I’m already having the best time working on it.”
