Jacksonville Jaguars Doug Pederson still not sure after first win

1 minute, 56 seconds Read

Head coach Doug Pederson's job is secure with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Currently.

The Jaguars' first win of the season, a close 37:34 against the Indianapolis Colts, was their first win of the season. It may have come late in Week 5, but nonetheless the Pederson era will get some more time in Duval.

The victory almost didn't happen. The Jaguars' poor defensive performance almost lost the game. Just a few minutes before the end, they lost a 14-point lead. It looked like the Jaguars were going to lose another winnable game. And then quarterback Trevor Lawrence led a drive to field goal range.

Cam Little delivered the game winner. The rest is for the books.

For Pederson, it's a brief reprieve before he focuses on the next game.

“Every win, every loss is hard to celebrate because tomorrow you can go back to work in less than 24 hours,” he told reporters after the game. “We will enjoy this. We’ll look at the tape, make corrections and move on.”

The coach was proud, and rightly so. The Jaguars had a season to forget. Whatever they tried to implement each week, be it communication or better execution, quick offense, a variety of adjustments, they all ended in defeat.

One of the Jaguars' busiest weeks of preparation ended in complete embarrassment for the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. As we endured last week's heartbreaking loss to the Houston Texans, there was a heightened sense of urgency.

For it to finally work and culminate in a win was a huge challenge for Pederson, who occupies the hottest spot in the NFL.

“I mean, it's a lot. Here, too, it's all about the merit of the team, the merit of the players. The way they work during the week, the time they spend together and just being able to do it. “Finally we saw that everything kind of came together, right, and today everything came together and we are proud of the boys for achieving this.

The Jaguars have yet to win last week. At this point, any defeat could be the last straw.
