49ers 'concerned' WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered an ACL injury in loss to Chiefs

He remained on the ground for several minutes receiving medical attention before moving to the sidelines and eventually being carried to the locker room.

Before his departure, Aiyuk had accumulated 23 yards on two catches.

The 49ers shut him out for the rest of the contest in the middle of a third-quarter drive, bringing them within two points of the Chiefs, 14-12. After that possession, San Francisco also ruled out wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who had only played three snaps, due to illness.

These losses piled up, and Kansas City would eventually pull away and take a two-point lead.

Without Aiyuk and Samuel for the duration of the second half, tight end George Kittle stepped up and finished the game with a team-high 92 receiving yards on six catches, and rookie WR Jacob Cowing recorded his first two career catches and added 50 yards at.

The loss brings San Francisco to 3-4 in a season that appears to be on shaky ground. An extended loss of Aiyuk, who got off to a slow start with 25 catches for 371 yards but continues to be a key piece for the 49ers, will make the turnaround a lot more difficult.

Next up, the Niners host the Dallas Cowboys Football on Sunday evenings in week 8.
