In less than two weeks, Michigan State's next recruiting class went from zero to two.

The latest addition is Cam Ward, a 2025 four-star forward from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who announced his commitment to the Spartans during a live ceremony Tuesday evening. He chose Michigan State over his other finalists, Maryland, Virginia and Kansas State.

Coach Tom Izzo brought in Ward after receiving a commitment from four-star forward Jordan Scott of Virginia on Oct. 10. Scott and Ward were both in East Lansing on official visits on the same weekend earlier this month when the Spartans hosted their annual Midnight Madness.

“Coach Izzo is just a family man, he’s always been the guy for me,” Ward said in an announcement video from 247Sports about why he chose Michigan State. “He says I remind him of a lot of the sports pros he has in the league – Draymond Green, Miles Bridges, things like that. I just trust him to get me there and then just trust him to produce another pro-level wing.”

Ward, 6-foot-10, 220 pounds with a wingspan of 6-foot-1.1, is ranked as the No. 14 power forward and No. 50 player overall in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings listed. His total of around 30 offers include Alabama, Notre Dame, Marquette and Florida State.

“You get someone who wants to win and someone who comes from a program that wins a lot,” Ward said of what he brings to Michigan State. “I would say the Spartans fans are getting a buddy, a good person and just someone who wants to win and continue to help the Spartans win.”

Izzo signed a three-player 2024 class that was ranked in the top 20 with four-star guards Jase Richardson and Kur Teng and three-star forward Jesse McCulloch.
