20,000 people expected to attend Kamala Harris DC speech on Tuesday – NBC4 Washington

In the shadows of the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver a closing argument to the American people on Tuesday about why she should be elected the next president of the United States.

According to an approved National Park Service permit, approximately 20,000 people are expected to attend the rally on the Ellipse between E Street NW, Constitution Avenue NW, 15th and 17th Streets NW. Overflowing crowds are directed to the northeastern site of the Washington Monument.

Preparations are underway at the Ellipse for a major speech by Vice President Kamala Harris, who will give the American people a final explanation of why she should be the next president. Derrick Ward reports.

The number of expected attendees increased from 8,000 when initially approved, and the Harris-Walz campaign promoted the event on social media platforms such as Instagram starting Sunday morning.

The gates will open to the public on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The program is expected to begin around 7 p.m. and end around 9 p.m., the permit said.

Preparations continued at the Ellipse over the weekend, with teams preparing fences, protective flooring and more. The Ellipse is home to the National Christmas Tree. It was also the site of former President Donald Trump's infamous “Stop the Steal” rally on January 6, 2021, which preceded the Capitol insurrection.
